Sunshine Room; ABC Nursery, Boston

Our Sunshine Room is for children who are confident walkers up to the age of 2 years. The children are prepared for life in the Rainbow Room by following stimulating activities planned in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

What do the children learn at ABC?

Babies need a great deal of stimulation; we help to promote this by providing physical and co-ordinated play. In our Baby room, there are numerous toys, mobiles, activity mats, rattles and lots more besides.

When your child starts to walk, there are many larger toys to help develop their skills. Cots with clean, fresh linen are provided, so that when your baby becomes tired, he/she can sleep comfortably.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage in all rooms:

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential. A child's experience in the early years has  a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. When parents choose to use Early Years services they want to know that provision will keep their children safe and help them to thrive. The Early Years Foundation Stage is the framework that provides this assurance.
(Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework 2007)

The older children are prepared for school in their pre-school year. They learn a daily routine, which they quickly accept and use. Throughout the day numerous activities are carried out with the children, from physical to creative development. The children get to use all of their skills to their own personal limitations. They are given their independence, thus enabling them to reach their own level of development.
